Where Have You Placed God in Your Marriage?

Well we know that marriage is very important to our Christian lives. God is for marriage and has left us instructions in the bible. There are so many verses that relate to what God says about marriage. I'd like to share just a few with you;

Genesis 2:18 And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.
Genesis 2:21-24 And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; 22 And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. 23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. 24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
Ephesians 5:23-32 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. 24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. 25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; 26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. 28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. 29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church: 30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. 31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. 32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

God has told us that when we join together we just became ONE FLESH. That is pretty deep all in itself!

My brothers and sisters we must seek God and stay prayerful about our marriages. It can surely tend to be difficult from time to time! And thats not to say that divorce doesn't occur due to misunderstandings and some of our other shortcomings but, this is why we really need to let God be the center of our commitment we made one to another in the presence of God.

Pray about your marriage daily and ask the Holy Spirit to guide you both through your relationship and intimacy.

You deserve to be with someone who compliments you, who treats you like royalty and lifts you up with great gentleness when you are down. You could call this other person your best friend, the lover of your dreams or perhaps you already recognize them as God sees them, as your Soul Mate. The bond of matrimony is sacred, and if one partner chooses to treat you opposite from the gentle way God wants you to be loved or your partner has chosen to live as though they were single making decisions by themselves amongst other things, then this could be the time to really pray and reconsider what God has to say to you about your spouse. We always need to do our best to withstand and be quick to add to the destruction of divorce. But, at the same time we have the right to be loved and be happy. Pray for God's strength and His will to be done~

Marriage Ain't No Joke -

Hey Married Couples : )

I was just thinking about marriage this morning. My thoughts lead me to the fact that marriage ain't no joke! It's like a roller coaster {ups, downs and loopdi loops}.

My hubby and I have been on this wonderful roller coaster ride for (27) years now.

Let me tell you all, I love my sweet hubby dearly and I know he loves me just as much. Now with that being said, it's still been a bumpy ride (let alone the fact that I hate roller coasters...LOL), yet in the same breathe I'd like to say that I would not just throw in the towel and give up on my wonderful and handsome man that God has for me.

The Bible says;“Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.” Ephesians 5:22

I know it gets hard sometimes, but I also know that I must choose to do what is right. And if God said it, then IT'S RIGHT no if, ands or buts about it!!!

On the other side of the coin the Bible says; “Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it” Ephesians 5:25

Whether or not my hubby chooses to obey God's Word (is on him. He will have his judgement day, as will I). Regardless of his reactions, I will still be obedient to God no matter what!!!

Because God did not say, hey Lady Bee if your husband does not obey My Word or you get sick and tired of his mess, then you can curse him out, pack his stuff and kick him to the curb. (Hint, hint my beautiful Sisters). And my dear Brothers, reverse this scenario because the SAME thing goes for you too.

Fellas, remember God also said, “Therefore a man will leave his father and his mother, and will cling to his wife: and they will be one flesh.” Genesis 2:24

So, that means...MAN UP!!! Stop standing behind your Mama's skirt. She cannot be of ONE FLESH with you like God said, that would be only your WIFE...re-read Genesis 2:24 until you get it in your spirit, hide it in your heart and also remember, if God said it, then IT'S RIGHT no if, ands or buts about it!!!

This is not about "Burger King" so you can have it your way, sorry that's the wrong King. (Another hint for my sweet sisters, this goes for us too precious Queens).

Sweet Peeps, lets work harder to get it right. Do not be defeated by giving up and giving in to satan who would just love to come into our homes to cause separation, division and DESTROY the very foundation that God has meant for good. Do not let the enemy KILL the love and compassion for one another that God has so richly implanted within us.

Tell your Handsome Hubby or your Beautiful Wife, that as of today you are going to love them unconditionally as God loves us!!!

Who's The Boss?

Let the husband render to his wife the affection due her, and likewise also the wife to her husband. The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. And likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does.

Isn't this a powerful verse? I think the most beautiful part about living like this is the fact that it promotes value, selflessness, kindness, accountability and consideration.

I remember when my husband and I changed our eating habits. The main reason for the change...we wanted to be healthy, live our best years together and look our best for one another. So when I see my husband consuming too many cookies or he sees me eating something that's not good for me in mass quantity we lovingly say something. We all know this verse is referring to intimacy, but I encourage you to not limit the application of this principle to just intimacy. We are "One Flesh" and as we yield more and more to one another and God's Spirit we help each other in ways that bring blessing and longevity to our marriages. (-:

Qualities of A Queen

Good Evening Marvelous Married Ones! We pray that you are having an outstanding day with your sweetie!
As I have been prayerfully studying I have taken notice of a women that most of my life I had never heard about. Oh I heard people carrying her name but I didn't really pay attention to her until last week. She is a blessing to all of us who seek to be all that God wants us to be as wives. So who am I talking about? I'm talking about Abigail.

In I Samuel chapter 25 we have the story told to us about a rich man named Nabal, David and Abigail. Long story short David and his men are hungry so David sends his servants to Nabal to ask for some food. Nabal very disrespectfully tells David's servants..who is David? Ooops wrong way to respond Nabal. David rallies up his men and is on his way to kill Nabal and everybody in his house. Abigail finds out about it and she gets up, gets some food together, saddles up the donkeys, grabs her servants, and goes to David in hopes of turning his wrath away from her house. She meets David falls on her face before him and she bows down to him. Now that's deep all by itself. Then she talks to David with intelligence, humility, calmness, and divine wisdom. She apologizes for her husbands bad behavior and David clearly impressed by this sister responds favorably to her and agrees with what she has said. WOW!! Please read the story for yourself, as Abigail is NO JOKE! She's on point like icicles! In the end Nabal dies after Abigail tell him all that she did and said to David...the Bible says his heart died within him. I don't know what that was all about, but that's tore up! After David hears about Nabals death he proposes to Abigail and she accepts.

In my Bible John Maxwell comments on her qualities. He writes, Abigail's patience and submission during difficult times, as well as her wisdom and problem solving skills prepared her too be an excellent wife for David. David valued Abigails strength and felt greatly attracted to this highly capable female leader. Can I tell you that as women we lead all the time in many areas, whether we believe it or know it. We also have great influence and with that truly comes great responsibility. Stop and think how you use it in your marriage. Are you calm, humble, and submissive? Do you listen to God's Spirit first before you respond? Are you a good problem solver? Do you like to resolve issues? We are queens and we have been blessed with kings, lets serve them and help them with even more excellence in the areas of humility,submission and godly wisdom.

Increase in Tough Times Pt 2

God's blessings on you all in abundance Marvelous Married Ones!! I pray that this week will be one full of creative ideas, ideas that will take your marriage to the next level in every way!

In Part 2 of this message on increase I want to talk about Jesus' earthly parents Joseph and Mary. These two individuals were awesome!!! They are to me a wonderful example of faith, endurance, and obedience. As I read about them last week and just meditated on their marriage I noticed several elements in their marriage that are critical for increase. It doesn't matter if your marriage is ok, pretty good, or glorious we can all learn from their example. The first thing I want to bring out is Joseph's character. After Joseph found out about Mary he could've put her on blast and possibly had her stoned, but he didn't. He was willing to put her away privately. Matthew 1:19
In today's culture some put their marriage issues "out there." Sadly the worst cases are those of high profile people. These individuals don't understand the influence they have and so they go at each other in public, then when the public reacts they don't know what do with it. What if these couples wanted to work it out? After acting the way they did toward their spouse in front of the world they may have thought, "Man it's too late now, and may have just given up and walked away...

In our marriages we all all experience challenges, we'd all be lying if we sat in front of people and said everything has been one magic carpet ride through the Heavenlies!LOL! Sometimes we make poor choices, sometimes our adversary the devil is seeking to kill steal and destroy, and sometimes there is simply a lack of knowledge in one or more areas. Whatever the case, marital increase in tough times comes when we like Joseph don't make hasty decisions, and wait on God. As Christians we have God's promise of help. Ps 46:1
We are His covenant people and He will show us the who, what, when, and how in our time of need. Jeremiah 33:3 and James 1:5
Just think of how secure Mary felt knowing that Joseph was a just man, a s l o w l y moving man. Think about how secure Joseph felt with Mary as he found out she really was carrying the Son of the Most High instead of her neighbors Reuben child! Joseph and Mary obeyed and trusted God, and they were courageous and God increased them. No matter what you may experience or may be experiencing respond in faith, obedience, and courage like Joseph and Mary. Trust God and trust Him to increase and bless your life and marriage. Again that increase may come in forms that you weren't expecting. God may impress upon you to obtain counseling with Pastors or Christian counselors. He may lead you to a specific marriage ministry, or Godly books on marriage. However increase comes from God, embrace it, walk it out, and continue in it...that's abundant life right there, that's how to increase in tough times.

***Now if you are being abused physically you need to tell a Pastor or somebody who can help you as soon as possible. I do not advocate staying with someone who us putting their hands on you.

Sharing God's Love Together

This tip has to be one of my favorites!I just love it when I look over my shoulder and while I'm doing my thing for Jesus, my husband is close by doing his thing for God too! May I encourage you to pray about an outreach this summer. It doesn't have to big it can be something like buying chips for the kids in the neighborhood and when they come share Jesus with them, or give them a tract. Why not bless an unbeliever in your sphere of influence with maybe some money, or a gift card?! People love to receive gifts, I know you are blessed so be a blessing and make sure you let them know that this gift came from the LORD because He loves you..and then you love on them by sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ!!

Increase Pt. 1

Hello Marvelous Married Ones! I pray that this day finds you relaxed, refreshed, and ready for the week ahead!
Today I want to talk about increasing and learning from our mates. There is much we can learn from God, our mates, others, and Godly books on marriage.

Differences ARE Doable!
My husband and I came from very different backgrounds, what he was taught as a youth growing up and what I was taught were very different. The way he was taught and the way I was taught was very different. The way he received and I received was very different. What is so awesome is that God knew all about the differences when he put us together, just like you and your mate. God KNOWS what He is doing, and in that He gives us some things that we need to succeed through our spouses. I have and continue to learn from my husband and he continues to learn through me. One of many things that I learned from Reggie was grace under pressure. Growing up on the streets I learned a lot of things, as I grew into adulthood those mindsets were still there although the Holy Spirit continued and continues to show me more excellent ways. Praise Him! Staying cool in a hot situation was one of those things I learned through God placing Reg in my life. He's as cool as a cucumber, and has a lot of self control. God used him to model it, and help me get a Godly understanding so I could walk that way too. One of the things he's learned from me early on in our courtship was the power obtained through the baptism of the Holy Ghost. We would talk all night of the different exploits that I and others experienced once we were baptized with the Holy Ghost and fire. We fed and continue to feed off of eachothers faith, knowledge, revelations, and experiences with God. As married followers of Christ we can learn alot from one another. This week think about what you have learned or can learn from your spouse. God put you both together to represent Him and enjoy life together. So what can you learn from your spouse that will bring increase to you and others? My Mom was in town for our daughters graduation and so on one of our lighter days..if I can say that.LOL It was an incredibly busy week, I asked my husband if he would take off early from work and hang out with us before we went to dinner. He did and the three of us had a wonderful time together. We went shopping and then we stopped by a couple of fountains and took pictures, it was a sweet time for my husband and Mom to be able to bond.

In the Last Days...

Good Afternoon Marvelous Married Ones! This is the day the LORD has made we will rejoice and be glad in it! I'm so glad for another day on this earth with my Honey!

I don't know about you but I still don't know everything about marriage. I'm just still constantly learning and loving as we go along, learning all I can to make my husbands last days on this earth glorious ones. As I sit here thinking about why I got married I can honestly say for love and because I trusted him. Did I know a whole lot about marriage when I said I do...no!LOL! But what we lack God supplies!
The Bible says, Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all your getting get understanding. Proverbs 4:7

I'm glad God showed me the plan He had for me to walk out in my marriage, my role and my responsibility. Do you know that God has a plan for you too? Ask Him what it is and make your mates last days on this earth glorious...for tomorrow is not promised (-:

Blessings to you Marvelous Married Ones! It's terrific Tuesday and I'am on the Graduation Week train ride. Our daughter graduates this weekend with honors and the activity around here has really picked up! My week started out with a glorious bang this past weekend with me helping my daughter finish up school projects, us painting, and me preparing and studying to teach a Salvation class on Sunday as well as me practicing for my first corporate "worship experience" with the praise team! Monday I firmed up and coordinated catering, volunteer, and travel details, and on and on!LOL!! The best part though, I didn't have to tackle all this alone....my life mate and husband was/is with me helping me every step of the way..God knew didn't HE?? He knew how our married lives would go from the very beginning and He put what I claim, as a promise in place. Let's look at Ecclesiastes 4:9

Two are better than one because they have a good return for their work

Now we know this principle works on several levels in life, at church, at work, and especially at home.This weekend my husband and I have been seriously tag teaming. I usually handle most of the home stuff because my husbands job is so demanding, but I have to tell you I was a bit overwhelmed. There were many things that needed immediate attention and I NEEDED help. My husband without saying a word saw my need and came right in and helped me.That brother delegated and helped me execute our plan for a smooth and successful graduation week. Can I tell you that he even woke up @ 5am to help me finish the painting project I had begun at 4pm yesterday? I'm so grateful for him and to the all wise God for choosing to put us together. (-:

Happy Friday Marvelous Married Ones! What a simply awesome week I had with my husband. Truly we are going from glory to glory in Christ and by His power. If I die today I die in love with the most incredible, marvelous, and wonderful man on the planet!!! Glory to God!!!

Ok, so today I want to challenge you. Strive in your marriage to sow into one another. Now I don't mean flattery..no! I mean find those qualities about your spouse that just ROCK and let him or her know atleast once a day that they have it going on!!! You will enjoy seeing the spark in his or her eye as you tell them how wonderful a ____________ they are. I can't help but share how my husband telling me what a wonderful woman, mother, Christian, etc...means to me. I get all warm and fuzzy in my heart and he starts looking like a T-Bone steak!LOL!!
And when I sow into him his eyes sparkle!!! Everytime I tell him what an intelligent, godly, and good looking man he is- he just lights up like the noon day sun!

God's Goodness Plain and Simple

I hope you had a great weekend and had the opportunity to enjoy your spouse!
This weekend was simply marvelous for my husband and I. The highlight being Sunday at church. There were some things that we were praying about and God just opened up our understanding and blessed us richly! After church my big Sister called and told me that I could bring lil Reggie over there to spend the night. My son was so happy and me and Reg were like the house is empty as our oldest was out with her friends. So we dropped our baby boy off and decided to go out. After weeks of cars being repaired and being house bound, it was nice to be able to go somewhere without catching a ride!LOL!Praise the LORD!

We decided to go to the Silver Diner and it was nice. We just sat there talking and looking into each others eyes. After a good meal my husband wanted us to sip on a shake together. We had never done that before.WOW! We tried to figure what flavor and he told me to pick. I'm a chocolate lover so I went for that but then I asked him what he wanted he said he liked Oreos. I told him let's get what you want because you have been blessing me all weekend long. He looked at me so sweetly and smiled. When our shake arrived , he came from the other side to sit next to me and there we sat laughing and smiling like two teenagers as we enjoyed our shake.

This was special to me. My husband leads very fast paced life. He is critical personnel at his job and over the last 2 months we have not been able to spend a lot of time together, plus he's studying for his next big certification. I felt like God had blessed and slowed time down for us some kind of way on Sunday. It was like God realizing the demands upon us both just added some extra sweet goodness on our day....for which we are still thankful for (-: Thanks Dad!

Happy Monday!!! I hope you all had a marvelous weekend with your spouses now it's a new week full of endless possibilities and promises to be fulfilled. I thought a lot today about a statement my Pastors wife made. She said as married covenant folk, we have an "ALL ACCESS CARD" where our mate is concerned. We as being one flesh through our God covenant of marriage have been granted access into the deep places of each others hearts. This goes way beyond the emotional adrenaline rushes of dating. When you are married you are wide open. Much like walking through life together spiritually naked, unashamed, and unafraid. Those are awesome benefits in and of themselves! We have access to each others heart. What a huge responsibility. God has put us with who we have right now, not only for His purposes but also for our enjoyment. Do you delight in and take comfort from knowing that you have your husband's or wife's heart? You have their undivided love, attention, devotion, help, and resources? I know some of you may be saying well that's not my marriage. Well can I tell you to paint your own picture? Unless that man or woman is abusing you or cheating on you paint your own picture and stick with it until you take your last breath of air on this earth. Speak those things that are not as though they were and enjoy your marriage...your life.

Marked! Now when Adam saw Eve he wasn't like ok great you are here now to help me do a, b, c, and d. No Adam said this is now bone of my bone and flesh of my flesh and a man shall leave his mother and father cleave to his wife and they shall become one flesh. It was like Adam was saying, Girl you are fine, you are all mine, and I'm gonna take care of you baby! (-: Even after the Fall, Adam and Eve stayed together, they knew they were specifically created for one another and they went forward together even under the heaviness of their consequences they kept on loving! You know at the end of the day that's what matters....the understanding of KNOWING that GOD has put each of us together for His purposes.

Think about that this week. Think about how important and special your spouse is and thank God for him or her, and if you need to.... paint a picture because you have been marked for your mate (-:

Hold On Tight

Greetings couples in the name of Jesus. I'm so thankful to God for giving me one more day with my husband! How about you (-:

The other night I took a friend to the grocery store and as I sat in the car with her little baby I saw something that just reinforced God's will for us as couples.
There was this husband and wife in the parking lot, apparently the wife's car had broken down and as her husband arrived and worked on the problem. With each hug you could tell that she was just so thankful that he was there. I don't know how long she was sitting there waiting for him to come and help her, but she sure was happy to see him. She just kept hugging him and smiling and he was enjoying every minute of it. Finally he was able to fix her problem and she was clearly relieved and appreciative.

God from the very beginning intended the husband and his wife to cleave to one another. In Genesis 2:24 God's Word says that a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife and they SHALL become "one flesh."
This helpless woman in the parking lot called her husband. She didn't call her Mom or Dad to come and rescue her, she called her husband....that is the way God designed it! Hallelujah!!!
As we go through this life with our mate let's always remember that no matter what challenges face us, that as long as we continue to hold tightly to one another there isn't anything that we can't get through together.

Maybe dedicate the next 1-8 Friday nights to reading it. It's a very romantic book so take your time and enjoy this beautiful writing of love as you bask in your own..

From Woman to Eve

Happy Monday Marvelous Married Ones!! I hope you and your Honey were able to spend some quality time together this past weekend, it was simply gorgeous outside!

Well after doing a study with my husband in Genesis, God gave me a title for this blog back on April 26th called as you can see From Woman to Eve. I had an idea where God wanted to go with this but it wasn't until after we had our womens fellowship at church, where the minister talked about going from woman to Eve that it all came together.I don't know what mistakes you may have possibly made in your marriage BUT if you have repented and put them under the Blood of Jesus pick yourself up, and keep it moving. After woman fell and ended up with those perpetual consequences her name was changed to Eve and it is said that Adam called her that because she was the mother of all living. Now here is the beauty of God. In her mess up, God's mercy shows up! God could've done many things to Eve. He could've wiped her out and the memory of her, but He didn't. He could've created another wife for Adam and let Eve be their servant, but He didn't. He simply assigned consequences to her and her seed after her and allowed her to continue living.

I know for some of you the devil may be trying to beat the life out of you mentally, don't let him do that to you. Once God forgives, He forgives. Now the consequences may not go anywhere any time soon or ever but that's ok. One thing about Eve, she never said as her son Cain had said, "My punishment is greater than I can bear." She bore it and she continued on. No matter what my dear sisters don't let your mistakes stop you from the greatness that God has placed on your lives. If you have hurt your spouse go to him and apologize. Ask God and your spouse how you can help him get through the pain. If you are a husband that has messed up, the same process can be used. Always remember this couples, God does expect us to help heal the ones we have hurt. NOW go get into God's Word and rediscover the woman/man that you are IN Him and then represent Him in humility, dignity, and begin again to walk in the dominion that you have been given.

Paper Towels and Repentance

Greetings couples in the marvelous name of JESUS!!! I'm so excited about today, its a day God has given us to do better and do greater things for Him!

Today I want to share something I saw yesterday. As we were shopping at Sams there was a married couple ahead of us. They were standing by the paper towel pallet and as the wife grabbed the paper towels she threw them to her husband like she was mad. As we looked on and walked on the wife said, "I can't believe I did that and I just got out of church!!!"

I'm glad that I saw that. It reminded me that as Christians and couples we are not perfect, and it was also beautiful to see that the wife caught herself and apologized to her husband. How it stamped even more deeply within me the responsibility we have as Christian couples to be "Lights of the World" and to really repent publicly or openly when we get out of line with God's Word regardless of who is around. I'm glad me and my husband took the opportunity to go up to them afterwards- feeling their embarassment and show them some love. That's part of why we are here right? To love and bless one another in the good times and the emabarrasing times.(-:

Choose...A Lifestyle of Forgiveness

Greetings Family in the name of Jesus! God has given us another week for our marriages to reflect His glory! Hallelujah!

Picture this a beautiful lake, with sweet crystal blue water. Above it a grand mountain range with waterfalls that flow right into the lake. There are animals and plant life all around the lake receiving nutrients and pleasure from the lake. Now imagine that just a few miles away there sits a Nuclear Power Plant and creeping undetected, because of a lack of proper inspections and maintainence are poisonous toxins. On the outside the lake water looks just as sweet and blue, but if you tried to drink it- it would be bitter and if you kept on drinking it would eventually kill you. Does it matter that the waterfalls of clean water are flowing into the lake..ummm no. Because the toxins being stored up are stronger than any fresh water coming into the lake. That's how powerful unforgiveness is couples. It's a killer.

God wants us to keep the life flowing in and out our lake (marriage) so we can stay clean, beautiful, and drinkable. He knows very well the effects of unforgiveness and He doesn't want that for us. Make up in your mind today that no matter what (that doesn't include abuse) you are going to serve one another as a couple in the love and power of the Holy Ghost sincerely from your hearts. God commands us in Colossians 3;13 to Make allowances for each others faults and forgive anyone who offends you. Think seriously about that today couples, God wants us to fully enjoy marriage in all it's glory.

Check for toxins daily and get them under the blood of Jesus, your marriage was designed to be glorious, beautiful, sweet, clean, and drinkable. (-:

Let God Reveal You (Unmarried Ladies)

God Friday Family!! I'm excited today about all the goodness that there is in God and in marriage!!! Today we are going to go back to Eden!
Today we as women are doing things and going places where years ago, would not have been possible but in all of our accomplishments there is still one area that God wants us to chill in....waiting to be found by our mate. Now unless you are in a situation like Ruth was and God tells you what to do--chill or you WILL run that brother off. LOL!!
We have been fasting and praying every Monday for marriages and sometimes we use a prayer about marriages being restored to the relationship that Adam and Eve had before the Fall. So let's go back to Genesis 2:21- 25 --but I want to focus on verse 22 today.

Then the rib which the LORD GOD had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man.

Did you catch that! WHOA!! HALLELUJAH! My spirit is jumping!! Notice that in verse 23 Eve didn't start running! Why? Because first she KNEW her Creator and then her assignment!!! Ladies when God brings you to your husband--the One you are assigned to help you can KNOW that he is from God if you take the time to seek your Heavenly Father and guess what He will tell you! Right now many of you are being molded and shaped for that man and God is preparing the heart of that brother for you right now!! It doesn't take E-Harmony to hook you up with the man of your dreams it only takes getting into your prayer closet and being quiet and as our sister Linda wrote this week (on our Inspirations page at http://inspirationp4e1.blogspot.com/)..God will speak in your silence and He will tell you everything you need to know about your future ministry partner. I know it seems unromantic to say it this way but that's exactly what it is. Marriage is a Ministry, unto God, each other and the world. It's too important to just get butterflies and gifts from a man you may be considering to marry! Go to your Daddy and WAIT, He will reveal you to one of His sons in due season! If you are already married and don't know what God wants from you both yet why not go on a fast together and seek God.
God again will meet you there because he is your Creator, He created you both to serve Him and God wants your lives to bless other lives...your marriage is and can be blessed to be a blessing (-:

I remember hearing a wonderful man of God say "Blessed are the flexible for they will not snap!!" In ministry we have to live from that attitude don't we? We ask God for patience, grace, wisdom, and power to be able to handle the awesome and precious responsibilities that He gives us where the ministry is concerned, but how about in our own homes with our children and mates?

Can I encourage myself and you today to extend the same patience, love, grace, and mercy you have for total strangers towards your mate. The LORD reminded me today of a situation once when my sweetie was driving a bit too fast for me and I went to the Word on him. Obey the laws of the land PLEASE BABY!LOL!! He slowed down, but then I stayed on the subject ...he finally said can you extend some mercy to me please!

I share that because I feel that I'am not the only one who can stand some pruning and growth in this area (-: This week lets' be sensitive and look for areas that we may not have shown as much mercy to our mates as we could have. Maybe write a note like I'am going to do today and say, Hey babe I know I was a bit hard on you regarding__________ but I'm praying for you and if I can help you in any way please let me know.

I believe that would not only please the LORD but our mates as well. (-:

Wait and The Blessing Will Be Great!!

God has been speaking to me the last couple of days about the blessing of waiting.

I remember God saying in Isaiah 40:31 They that wait on the LORD shall renew their strength they shall mount up on wings like an eagle, they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

I remember waiting on my mate. I remember being in church every Wednesday and Sunday loving life with Jesus!! God took care of me and my daughter so beautifully while he prepared us for one of His sons.Then I remember being at the funeral of one of girlfriends. Her infant had been striken with something terrible. I held him at choir rehearsal Thursday night, bounced him around and he spit up on me.Lol! He was the sweetest baby, I look forward to seeing him in glory. After the funeral a minister friend of hers walked up to me, she didn't ask me any questions, she just simply told that because I had been faithful to God that He was going to bless me with a double husband and can I tell you God did just that! This brother cooks, cleans, does laundry on top of being madly in love with God and me, he's faithful and a great provider and a valiant man of God.

All you brothers and sisters out there being faithful to God, you just keep your eyes on Jesus because Jesus has His eye on you! Wait on God and the blessing will be great!!!

It's "Marvelous Marriages Monday" and greetings to you all in the powerful and matchless name of Jesus!!! Oh dear friends and family it's so good to married and in the Kingdom of God!!!

I want to share briefly just some nuggets of truth that my husband and I received at our church's marriage retreat.

Nugget Number 1.

We are ordained and anointed to be with the spouse we have right now! WOW! Just think about that, think about how God hand picked you to be the "life mate" of your spouse! That means to me that I have the ability to supernaturally bless my husband, I hold his heart alone, and I'am responsible for helping him to flourish and be all that God has called him to be. Does that mean I try to "make" him do this or that NOOOOO!!! We are "help mates" NOT "help mommas!"LOL!!
It means just like Adam and Eve we love and help each other, we walk with God together and help each other fulfill God's call for our lives, individually and together. Life in the Garden IS possible, keep praying and asking God to show you how to make your marriage all that God wants it to be in Him. GOD IS GOOD and Marriage is Marvelous in Christ!!!

Vows with a Ring to It

Remember when the children of Israel crossed over the Jordan and entered the Promised Land? Do you remember what God instructed them to do next? He instructed them to pick up and set up 12 stones from the middle of the river, the same river mind you that He caused to stop flowing so they could cross over, as a reminder of this miraculous event. Why? God wanted the children of Israel to pass down to their children the story of God's miracle, He wanted those stones to serve as a memorial of His mighty acts towards them. Joshua 4:6-7

Have your children ever asked you about the stones in your wedding ring? Could you go stone by stone and tell them of the vows that you and your mate have made to one another or of the many times God has helped the family? Share with them the goodness and faithfulness that God has shown you in your marriage. We tell our kids that all the time, how we depend totally on God and His Word to help us through the good times and the challenging times. They are taking special note of the goodness of God because we have made it our business to show them with God, Marriage Is Marvelous!

Why not meditate on your vows and memorize them. Think about the promises you made to your spouse, those unconditional promises I might add. (-:
As you meet other couples and they begin to talk to you about different things going on in their marriage you can encourage them to remember their vows too. Psalm 119:11 says, Thy Word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against You. As we go through this wonderful journey with our mates let's keep fresh in our hearts and minds what we promised them before God and continue to walk it out with all the love and passion that we came into our marriage with.

The Days of Eden

I heard a song this morning at church and it blessed me so much then I got to thinking about the words. Then my husband and son went to a Resurrection Sunday dinner at our Aunts house and right there as we were talking my husband goes and gets desert and starts feeding me!!! I'm like LORD this is like the days of Eden.
That blessed me so much. I can't tell you why, but it did and I said I'm going to pray from now on that all marriages experience the "Days of Eden."

Father in Jesus name I pray that You show us how to experience through Christ the beauty and oneness that Adam and Eve had before the fall. I know that we live in hostile territory but I also know that You have given us dominion and every where the soles of our feet touch belongs to us. I pray for couples that they experience the goodness, the freedom, the love, the passion, the compassion, the richness, the oneness that You have intended for us to walk in regardless of what is going on in or outiside our environments. I bind the lies of the devil that says it can't be so, because of this or that for You God are above all and everything with a name has to bow to You. I pray for prosperity and peace, longsuffering and a strength to keep on keeping on.I pray especially for those with a 5 fold call of God on their lives. I pray for discernment and unity, I pray for steadfastness and the ablility to NOT get offended with You God because of some the hardships,test and trials, disappointments, that You have allowed them to walk through. Let them see that what they've gone through has prepared them for the territory they are about to breakthrough and conquer in Your name! May the love of God and the joy of God fill your hearts and your homes in Jesus name so you can take what you have and bless others!!!

The Days of Eden couples...we don't need to go to glory to experience it we just need to tell God we want what He intended in the Garden and make whatever adjustments to obtain it and maintain it. YOU ARE BLESSED in Jesus name!!!!

No Deposit No Return

There was a young woman who wanted to start a business. With the help of some consultants she carefully gets her business plan together and meets with investors and banks to raise the capital required for this new venture. She finally gets all that is needed and finds a facility, begins to hire people, market her product, and put in long, long, hours. Eventually her hard work begins to pay off as her business begins to flourish. Now that she is increasing she feels it's ok to ease up a bit and relax a little, but now is not the time. To hold her place in the market she needs to come up with more ideas, improve efficiency, strengthen customer ties etc..

Just like this young woman was devoted in the beginning, marriage also requires a lot of devotion if it is to succeed and thrive. As mates we must be willing to give our all. As spouses we must pour our hearts and souls into this covenant, making whatever sacrifes necessary for the marriage to continue to grow. To some that may sound like hard work in this microwave society where everything is but a click or touch away and guess what it is! Yet the rewards are so rich that it's truly worth all the hard work put into it.

It's Better to Do Right Than To Be Right

I read a sign this week that said,"You don't have to attend every argument you are invited to." I thought wow that is good and it is so true, but then today I can add that it's also" better to do right than to be right." If you were raised as a performance driven person you will really understand this. Those of us who were raised like this always had to be on top of our game, always had to be the best, shine the brightest, and on and on because that's when we received love and approval from those who mattered most to us. To me that was one of the hardest lessons to learn after I accepted Christ, the fact that I didn't have to DO something to earn His love. God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit, loved me way before I ever loved them and whatever I did for God --He had already predestined for me to do those works in the first place! Works stem from Salvation, works don't produce Salvation! Hallelujah!!!

Ever felt like you have to have the final word or you have to win that argument? You can raise your hand in the privacy of your own home it's ok. (-: Well that is a pretty good indicator of a prideful nature. In contrast, a willingness to admit error points to a humble spirit. It is better to admit that we don't have all the answers and/or confess our error than to just argue the fact until we end up winning a spot on the devils debate team! Check this Scripture out-
Proverbs 13:10 (The Message)

Arrogant know-it-alls stir up discord,
but wise men and women listen to each other's counsel

Pride is a slippery stick, a nasty stick, that we lean on to prop ourselves up; that's why it goes before a fall.

In any situation or relationship always seek to do right instead of seeking to be right. God knows and He cares and He will always bring the truth to light if we ask Him to. We have to love our mates and others enough to admit when we are wrong or just don't have the answers right then instead of yielding ourselves to pride and giving the enemy an open door into our relationships. Humility always promotes a peaceful resolution and wants to do right, pride on the other hand has to be right at any costs and isn't concerned about doing right. Which one of these do you think Heaven will back? God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble. James 4:6

Godliness and Contentment IS Great Gain

I remember as a teenager and even as a grown woman my father's wealth. He always looked good, drove the latest and longest Lincoln Continental, and literally lives in the "big house on the hill." As I grew up I wanted what my dad had to some degree. When I married I mistakenly put that pressure on my husband to attain the kind of wealth that my father had. I was coveting and didn't even know it! The LORD revealed to me, that each person has a specific path in life and that my father had worked very hard in the military and in his new found job to be able to live that kind of lifestyle. My husband and I were just starting out. My husband who possesses a serious love and skill set for computers could not get a break in the industry. He ended up with God's help teaching himself the entire C+ course and got his certification. At that time that course was 5,000 and my man taught himself with God's help. I thought here we go only to come crashing down back into reality. He applied for so many places that I thought we'd run out of printer paper with all the resumes he sent out. Once he was called for an interview but when they saw my husband's ethnicity they politely apologized to him and told him that they were looking to interview another man with my husbands same exact name.....REALLY-WOW?! I was mad!!!!!! He kept going though and kept knocking on doors and teaching himself. After 12 years of marriage it's nice where we are..I'm content and God has blessed my husband to become an Network Engineer. We have not attained the wealth of my parents by any means but it's ok..we have a wealth that lies deep within contentment. I'm no longer concerned about trying to match my father or anyone else because I know and have experienced God's goodness over the course of time and it's nice to be able to NOT have to grind to keep up with the Jones's. What joy there is in just walking the path God has laid out before us and accomplishing what He wants for us...
Wives...don't put unecessary pressure on your honey whether you are starting out or have been married for awhile. Learn if you need to like I did, to be content. Sometimes we get weird and think God is a slot machine and He is not. He is a God who is sovereign, a God with a plan. God will bless when He is ready to bless and although it was pretty hard sometimes as I look back I can rejoice in how God moved for us. Remember these words.. But godliness with contentment is great gain. I Timothy 6:6

Dancing the Dance of Love

Dance lessons ought to be a requirement for premarital counseling. Any couple who can survive the lessons is ready for marriage!

In ballroom dancing, the man is the designated leader. It is his job to guide his partner around the floor; indicating which way she is to go and when she is to turn. The woman's assignment is to follow her partners lead, complementing his moves, her weight counterbalancing his as they glide through a series of twirls. Without this clear delineation of roles, without leadership and submission, cooperation and communication, the couple would not float "effortlessly" about; they would trip over each other and fall on the dance floor.

A good leader does not bully his partner, pushing and pulling her across the floor. He guides her gently and considerately, watching over her shoulder to protect her. His strength supports her beauty and grace; she trusts him and willingly follows his lead because she can depend on his love. Make your marriage the dance of love.

God's Purposes for our Marriage

There are many reasons people get married but let's just look at this list and see what God's original intent for marriage was/is.
　
To provide companionship ( Genesis 2:18)
To reproduce (Genesis 1:28)
To promote sexual purity (Proverbs 5:15)
To provide romance (Genesis 5:16-19)
To demonstrate and pattern Christ’s love for the Church (Ephesians 5:22-27)
To demonstrate God’s favor on the earth (Proverbs 18:22)
To provide help when fulfilling God's plan in your life ( Genesis 2:18)

Marriage is the most glorious of covenants under our covenant with God through Jesus Christ, this week think about the list above and ask God what you can do to further fulfill and promote God's original intent for marriage in your life. Maybe you need to spend more time alone with your spouse--companionship and romance. How about sexual purity. I heard a preacher say once if you have a lust problem--tell your spouse. For others some wives and husbands just need to realize the importance of intimacy inside of marriage. Sex is IMPORTANT in a marriage just like WORSHIP is important to God.It's not the most important thing but being intimate more frequently helps to keep the atmosphere in our homes and our attitudes moving and flowing towards love and respect.
How about reaching out to others or mentoring other couples in their marriages. How about adopting a single parent family and begin to invest in them spiritually, financially, mentally, etc...

Remember this important fact Marriage IS Ministry and it's one that God wants to use to reach out to help others...

Building Strong Marriages

Do you remember being a kid and trying to build a tower only to have it fall down because there wasn't enough support on the bottom? People get married nowadays for ALL sorts of reasons. Financial stability, wanting kids, companionship,sex, etc..now those things are not bad in and of themselves, but if that's the foundational blocks that are being depended on to hold and carry a marriage onward and upward... then there are going to be some seriously disillusioned and disappointed people.

If we however go into and continue on with the foundational blocks listed below our marriages can't help but bloom and blossom into all that God has designed it to be.

Love- kind, humble, unfailing,selfless

Forgiveness- longsuffering, merciful

Trust- confidence, expectation, dependence

Committment- the conviction and drive to keep your wedding vows at all costs

Patience- the state of enduring under difficult circumstances

Faith in Jesus Christ. Faith in Jesus as couples gives us the power needed to keep our marriage structure strong and tall.

We all want great marriages for ourselves and for the world to see God's glory and image imprinted on it. No one gets married to fail, so let's do all we can do to make it strong and keep it strong and glorious!

Committment is Better than Quitting

Often grown up children of divorced parents approach marriage with a deep appreciation for the value of entering a lifelong covenant. They've endured the earthquakes and after shocks of being children of divorce and they do not want to go through that again!

To those of you considering marriage please, please, make a deep committment to God, your future spouse, and yourself, and really forge a conviction that for better or for worse you are going to stick it out!

We live in a society that like the Pharisees of old would leave their wives at the drop of a dime. Marriage is sacred to God and it's a well spring of life, love and happiness that needs to be tended to, guarded, and refreshed. Keep your vows and maybe even renew them! My husband and I are talking about that now and we get excited every time we add another detail to it. Have we had moments, or seasons of challenge yes but God always helped us through. He loves us, and our kids and our communities. Marriage has far reaching effects just like divorce so let's keep our vows and be a blessing.

Do You Hear What I Hear?

Today I want to share with you a communication style that we learned about at the marriage retreat. It's called E.V.E.

Ever said something to your mate or vice versa and all of sudden feelings are hurt, folks get offended and down, down , down the conversation goes?! I know I have and this simple method really works. The problem is sometimes we "hear" something that the speaker wasn't trying to communicate. So it's always good to first think the best (Phil.4:8) and then work the E.V.E. principle.

So let me break it down for you.

E- Echo
This means when you said something that was taken offensively you calmly ask the other person to repeat or echo back to you what they heard you say, then you go on to V.

V- Validate
After they echo it back to you- you validate that person. Meaning you let them know- Ok you heard XYZ...at that point you let them know that's not what you meant just as sweetly and reassuringly as you can.

E-Empathize
After you really get what the person "heard" you let them know - Ok I understand why what I said made you feel like that or I understand why that was offensive to you. Then you work through it together.

The Bible says with all thy getting get understanding. Proverbs 4:7. I hope this will help you and I continue to seek out and explore new ways to make our marriages healthier, happier, and a brighter example of God's glory in the earth.

I'm just getting back from our church's awesome marriage retreat! What a time we had! I want to share some wonderful nuggets with you as soon as I go over all my notes again, and digest it all real good!

For today I want to share with you this Marriage Blessing that the LORD lead me to during prayer4every1's time of fasting and praying for marriages today.

Hello Lovebirds!! I'm so excited because my church is having their 1st Married Couple Retreat! It's at a lovely hotel and there will be great teachings, fellowship and food. This retreat is going to be alot of fun but to us it's more than that. It's an opportunity for God to strengthen our bond and the bonds of other couples at our church. It's an investment. What you care about you WILL spend your money on and give time to so on that note...I want to encourage you all to make whatever investments are necessary to keep your marriage moving in the right direction. As children of God we KNOW when we are drifting off course or when we are right on target. Spend the time and the money to make or keep your marriage moving in the right direction.
If there isn't a Marriage Ministry in your church pray and respectfully and humbly ask your Pastors about the possibility of them establishing one.

Next to our relationship to God our marriages are of the utmost importance!!! Get involved in and help to strengthen other couples in your church. Finally I leave you with these words of wisdom by LadyBee "You are blessed to be a blessing" so invest in your marriage and make it so!!! (-:

Just My Imagination.....

I heard this story the other day and I wanted to share it with you.

A couple was married and they were going along in their relationship and then the devil started sending them thoughts. They took those thoughts and started feeding on them. They took those thoughts and started believing them. Then they started looking at each other cross eyed. They gave those thoughts permission to take up residence in their minds and now they were beginning to ACT on those thoughts. They started believing the lies being planted and instead of communicating with one another and asking important questions like ,"do you feel this way about me" or "do you think like this towards me" they just received those thoughts and they eventually ended up divorced. There was no cheating involved, no abuse, no nothing.....only poisonous thoughts injected by an enemy who truly doesn't care if you are black or white, rich or poor, or educated or uneducated. He simply lives to kill steal and destroy. We don't have to let this happen to any of us! We've got the Word of God. Look closely and let this sink in deep;

2 Corinthians 10:4-6 (21st Century King James Version)
4For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God for the pulling down of strongholds,
5casting down imaginations and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ,
6and being in readiness to avenge all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.

Negative thoughts about our mates, or even other people need to be cast down IMMEDIATELY!!! Let's make sure that we guard our thoughts at all times so we don't end up declaring like this dear ex couple..it was just my imagination running away with me!!

Hello Couples! Just a few tips to help you show appreciation for your spouse and kick that love flame up a little higher.

These suggestions can be modified to fit your mate so enjoy!

1. Is there an area that your spouse has has really improved in? Make a card or letter communicating your admiration and respect for your spouse in that area.

2. If you can, maybe at lunch while your spouse is away from the office or after they leave work decorate their office space with balloons, signs saying I love you, candy, fruit, or flowers!

3. Write him/her a love poem explaining where you are going to take your mate for a date; then cut the poem into pieces like a puzzle and have your spouse put it together.

4. Surprise your mate with a romantic getaway at a bed and breakfast. Call your spouse at work and tell him/her where to meet.

5. Give your spouse a gift certificate for a message, if you can afford it get one together!

6. Go back to the restaurant that your spouse proposed to you at and enjoy that memory together over dinner.

7. Give your spouse a card in the morning inviting your spouse to come at lunch to enjoy a special time of fellowship together.

Remember standing there at that altar, or in front of the Justice of the Peace, or maybe the courthouse wherever you were on that grand and special day. Stop for a moment and think about how you felt, all warm and fuzzy inside, ready to jump the broom with the groom of your choice. Do you remember that day! I do, like it was yesterday...
We promised to love and cherish each other, protect and look out for one another. One key tool to our marriages flowing is a fantastic and challenging word called compromise. You know you give a little , he gives a little and nobody is demanding their own way or their every wish to be fulfilled. Now God's Word says that the man is the head of every woman I Cor.11:3 so we know our husbands have the final say, and we can rest in the fact that God has set it up like that for a reason and we can rest in Him.

Let's look at some Scripture from the Message Bible- You must get along with each other. You must learn to be considerate of one another, cultivating a life in common.
I Corinthians 1:10

The literal meaning of the word compromise is "together to promise." God's design for our marriages is to bring two unique and independent people together and make them one, as we go through our journey together with our spouses let's make it our life's quest to continually promise to bring about togetherness by making conscious efforts to submit to one another and let go of the need to win or have our own way.

Ok let's get to it Philippians 2: 9-11

Therefore God also hath highly exalted Him, and given Him a name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in Heaven and things on earth and things under the earth, 11and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

It says God highly exalted Jesus! Don't you want God to exalt your marriage?!!? I sure do!!! WHY? So Jesus can be further exalted!!! I want God to be glorified in everything I say to my mate and in everything that I do. First to bring glory and honor to God and my marriage and to let my husband know just how important he is in my life! I want hurting couples to be able to look at my marriage and say how do you make it work? How can you submit like that to each other? How can you forgive and go on with pure hearts? WHY? So I can share Jesus with them and help them mature in their walk and marriages too.

Look family there is nothing done that is done for us alone. If you have a good or great marriage "Let It Shine" talk about it with people and make yourself available. Like Ladybee mentioned before there are so many couples hurting, under attack, held in bondage etc... what can you do to help? Humble yourself under the mighty hand of God, resist the devil and all his lies and God will exalt you..so He can be further exalted and also so He can use you to help other marriages. Go back and look at the Scripture and list again , copy it down do your own research on humility, and watch God exalt your marriage (-:

As we go on this journey with our spouse one of the ruts and tricks of the enemy is for us to "think" that our spouse has the ability to be our ALL IN ALL! We must never put that kind of pressure on our spouse because they will buckle under that impossible load!!!
The Word says, My God shall supply all of your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.Philippians 4:19

As married couples we walk in fellowship with God both together and individually, but the blessings of a spouse was never meant to replace God. Some people get married and think this man or woman is like winning the lottery- they are going to solve all my problems, hurts and issues. Ummm..no.

Spending time with God brings increase, healing, and joy. As we spend time with God through the WORD, PRAYER, and PRAISE, God interacts with us. He blesses us with those things that we need and we experience the benefit of being a son or daughter of the Most High. God will keep us balanced and focused in our marriages if we make sure to spend time with Him and look to Him only to meet ALL of our needs.

Marriage - Love Language

Go ahead and say that to your mate, and watch the response you get!

God wants us to enjoy being married! Do you enjoy being married?! Do you enjoy long walks and cool nights to cuddle and talk about where you've been as a couple and where you are going! I love it when my husband comes home from work and says I missed you today, that makes my day!!! Or when he calls me from Walmart and asks me if I want him to pick up anything for me! I have to tell you I rejoice when I wake up and my husband has awakened too!!! One more day to make history together. I don't know how long we have together here on this earth, but I promise you we are making every minute count.

Today, this weekend and beyond tell you spouse how much their love means to you and how much you cherish them. God intended marriage to be so fulfilling, and rewarding. Communicating our feelings to one another is definitely a marriage strengthener.

On Monday we will continue with the Humility in Marriage Pt 2 so keep meditating on 2 Philippians 3-11 with me, and let's watch how God blesses our marriages and lives through the richness of humility (-:

Ok so we've been meditating on 2 Phillipians 2:3-11 right, so now with that Scripture let's look at some definitions of humble.

1. Not proud or arrogant; modest in opinion: to be successful yet humble
2. Having a feeling of insignificance, inferiority, subservient

4. Courteously respectful: in my humble opinion you are wrong
5. Low in height, level
6. To lower in condition, importance, dignity, abase
7. To destroy the independence, power or will of
8. To make meek: to humble one's heart

A few opposites of humble
1. Pride- an assumption of one's superiority and importance, contented
2. Rude- rough, harsh, or ungentle, discourteous in a deliberate way
3. Insolent- boldly rude or disrespectful

So as you look at this list do you see you…NOT your mate but you? I'm going to go slow on this because I feel this is something God wants us to really get.
Let's look at the first part of Phillipians 2:3-11 lets work through 3 & 4

3Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem the other better than himself.
4Look not every man to his own things, but every man also to the things of others.

Ever ask your spouse to do something only to have him or her begin to break down the "things" that they do and are doing in the marriage? That's definitely a strife starter, and it also sounds like vainglory. does that sound like a person "lowly" in mind..nope. The humble spouse of course does not respond like that because a humble person loves to serve their mate, and lives to serve their mate.

Verse 4 is deep --especially if you have been molded by the "King or Queen" mentality of the world. You know the one that constantly thinks about me, me, me, me and struggles to say you or even WE. One way I keep myself from the Queen mentality is by calling my husband everyday and asking him a very important question..."Is there anything that I can do for you today?" Most of the time Reg is like nope I'm good, but then there are days when he gives me a "honey do list!"LOL! Do I trip nope....I married him to be his helpmate and I'd rather him want my help than that of another woman. You feel me ladies and gentlemen!?!!? (-:

Before you go head on back to the definitions and if you see yourself make up your mind to work on that number or those numbers. Really think about humility and keep meditating on Philippians 2:3-11 along with me. God wants to make our marriages stronger than ever, as well as our character, IF we are willing to be humble...

Humility in Our Marriages Leads to Blessings! Pt 3

Before we go any further what is humilty or what does being "humble" look like?
Let's check this out:

1.	not proud or arrogant; modest: to be humble although successful.

8.	to make meek: to humble one's heart.

The opposites would be:

1. proud 2. noble 3. exalted 4. rude 5. insolent 6. elevate 7. exalt.

Ok, so let's move on to verse 5-8
5Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus,

6who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God,

7but made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men.

8And being found in the fashion of a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient unto death--even the death of the cross.

I love these verses because they show me how Jesus stayed His course all the way to the Cross- Putting others first and obedience!!!
As you go through your week, remember to ask your spouse what he/she needs, look for new ways to serve him/her, be willing to die. YES DIE!!! We all have areas that need to go back into the grave with the rest of that dead old us and now is the time! God wants to use our marriages to bless the world! Yes world! It's time to get those areas of pride on the altar and let em burn.

Humility in Our Marriages Leads to Blessings!

Humility? What a beautiful word and an even more beautiful picture of who Christ is! Oh how God blessed Him and gave Him a mighty name and position because of Jesus' humility. This weekend if you want to, meditate on this Scripture along with me. God is going to take us on a little journey in humility in these next postings that will help all marriages from the challenged, good, and great to go to an even higher place, because God exalts and blesses the humble.

Let's look at and meditate on Phillipians 2:3-11

3Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem the other better than himself.

4Look not every man to his own things, but every man also to the things of others.

5Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus,

6who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God,

7but made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men.

8And being found in the fashion of a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient unto death--even the death of the cross.

9Therefore God also hath highly exalted Him, and given Him a name which is above every name,

10that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in Heaven and things on earth and things under the earth,

11and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Monday we will be talking more about humility in marriage that I know from me and my husbands personal experiences, will assist God in taking your marriage to a higher and deeper place both in Him and in your marriage.

Marriage Without Forgiveness= Danger

I was reading today about the servant who owed about $10,000,000.00 to his master and then he vowed to pay his mater back with um...his salary only equaling about .17 cents a day!!! It would've have taken him 183,000 years to pay that back so yeah..that wasn't going to happen!LOL! So we know the story, his master forgives him and he turns around and throws a guy in prison that owed him about $15.00! What in the world?! So then the master or king hears about it and pours his full wrath out on him until he can pay up! Matthew 18:21-35 WHOA!! It is a dangerous thing to forget what God has forgiven us of.

The same principle about forgiveness holds true in marriage too. It's dangerous to walk around full of unforgiveness. WHY?? For a couple of reasons(there are more that we will talk about next time) and because we are made in God's image and He doesn't do that to us! OUCH!!!!!! Also because unlimited forgiveness ought to be demonstrated with mercy toward others because it is the reflection of a right relationship with the Father. God’s forgiveness of our sins should motivate us to forgive and be merciful.

So what does a right relationship with the Father look like? To me it's walking humble with the LORD and being attentive to His will daily...not mine. We have a relationship where if I'm not understanding Him correctly I can ask for clarity or if I'm wrong I can repent, correct myself and we go on merrily in our relationship as Father and daughter/son. Our spouses and others deserve the same kindness and consideration.

Life is so short... don't you want to have the best marriage that you possibly can have? I do and I'm willing to do whatever it takes to make it stronger and better to the glory of God, how about you?!!

I don't know about you but I love to read! I want revelation and information to help me enjoy this abundant life to the fullest!!! Below I have listed some suggested reading material to help enhance our marriages. My husband and I have made it our goal to go through some of these in 2010. Marriage ROCKS!!!

I have to tell you all that I love living in America!! I love the freedom that exists here. I love how no matter what hits be it terrorists or crazy weather Americans will pull together and help one another out. I'm also appreciative of my fellow Americans who still consider marriage as honorable. Notice I didn't say easy...I said honorable. (-:
I love what God says to us about it,

Hebrews 13:4
Marriage is honorable in all and the bed undefiled; but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.

I think we all know enough about whoremongers and adulters no need to go there, but let's look at honorable and undefiled. What does that say to you? How does that make you view your marriage? Does that make you feel good knowing that God thinks highly of marriage? Does it help to reinforce your foundation? I think all married couples ought to get together with other married couples and just "Celebrate!" Celebrate the fact that God is FOR your marriage to succeed. He's right in there with you, that 3rd cord keeping you and your honey together through the many ups and downs of life as well as those storms!!! Glory to GOD!!!

I was so blessed today as I talked to a sister today and she told me, I just can't leave my husband because it's hard!! Now that's honorable!!! Some people give up so easily. I can hear God singing I beg your pardon I NEVER promised you a rose garden!LOL! I'm so thankful for leadership in my life that tell my brothers and sisters how it T I S!!! How awesome God designed marriage to be and how wonderful it is!!! I know the devil is doing ALL that he can to kill, steal , and destroy but Jesus said..I said Jesus said, I came to give you life and that more abundantly! John 10:10 Praise GOD!!! I want to tell you that marriage rocks!!! I want to tell you that it is hard work and I want to tell you that no matter what you are going through, have gone through, or are currently going through that GOD is more than able to do exceedingly, abundantly, above all you could ask or think or pray for. Don't "opt" out because it gets hard sometimes dig those roots down deeper, hold your honey tight, and cry out to God and declare that Our Marriage Rocks because The Rock has designed it too!!!

Marriage and Ministry

Hey Fam. Just something short and sweet for all you out their thinking about getting married. May I suggest to you that you are not just creating a family, you are establishing a ministry.
Marriage is ministry because you will be serving one another, your kids and your community etc... Question?! Does the man or woman that you are thinking about making a lifetime commitment to have the same vision for family, ministry and community that you have? Are you called to one of the five fold ministries? Is your mate? How are you going to balance that out. Believe me you don't want to both be in ministry with your kids running around the church because ones the Youth Pastor and the other the Min. of Music..been there did that..train wreck!

As the New Year approaches think about these things. Maybe you and your Honey will be like Priscilla and Aquilla :

Merry CHRISTmas Couples

What a great year this has been! I know some of us faced and conquered many challenges, learned a lot of lessons, and had a great year growing together in the LORD. Some of us celebrated anniversaries while others just jumped over the broom as recently as November. As we celebrate the birth of Christ tomorrow as couples let's also celebrate Him as the Word made flesh! I went to bed last night meditating, going over in my mind over and over again the fact that God's Word has already worked everything out in our lives and has conquered everything that we could ever face in this life! Hallelujah!! I woke up literally praising God because of what I meditated on...the power of the WORD that came down from Heaven and became flesh like us.

John 1:14

And the Word came in the flesh, and lived for a time in our midst, so that we saw His glory--the glory as of the Father's only Son, sent from His presence. He was full of grace and truth.

How did we as couples overcome this year? It was the Word made flesh! That's how our marriages stayed strong and thrived in 2009, that's how we overcame many temptations and obstacles this year. We can't forget the prophesied Word too, that was spoken over our lives regarding His will for our life together as couples.
As 2010 approaches let this thought go deep..We are not just Marriages we are Ministries and God, our family, friends, co workers and neighbors are looking to us to reflect His glory in our unions now more than ever before.

For...COVENANT!!!!!!!! I have been thinking a lot about the meaning of this word and I wanted to explore it- in some of it's various forms.

Covenant.
1.
an agreement, usually formal, between two or more persons to do or not do something specified.
2.

Bible.
a. the conditional promises made to humanity by God, as revealed in Scripture.
b. the agreement between God and the ancient Israelites, in which God promised to protect them if they kept His law and were faithful to Him.

I'm thankful for all the couples that have and continue to keep their vows to God and to their mates. Love is definitely a decision and NOT a feeling and many of us continue to keep covenant and I praise God for that!!! I applaud you all!!! I commend you all!!! I ask God to bless you all because there are MANY temptations in this life. Tall dark and handsome ones, beautiful ones offering you a peek on the web or maybe in your workplace. Then there are the storms that come...one right after another sometime,attacks from an invisible enemy who would love nothing more than to make us another divorce statistic and cause pain for our children that can last generations. As we celebrate God keeping His covenant to send the Messiah, Emmanuel, to the Earth to save us from our sins, I also want to take the time to celebrate all the married couples who like God continue to keep their covenants too. In a culture where anything you can pay for you can have, I just so want to encourage all the couples to keep holding it down for God and your families.

One Flesh

Isn't it a mystery how two people can become one flesh! I'm still amazed by that concept of God's design. Although we've been married for only 11 years this merging of the two really does happen and the more we yield to God and each other the more this Divine Design is realized in our marriages.

Today I want to talk about one aspect of the One Flesh relationship intimacy.
I know in the world today a lot of women are working outside the home and when I was out there the last thing I wanted to do when I got home is enjoy this special time with my mate. I wanted to see my husband and kids, eat and go to bed without any extra activities...until the LORD convicted me of that. He started showing me and telling how important it is to have that time as a couple. In marriage lies the deepest bonding and intimacy possible in a human relationship.

We've all read this Scripture before right?
"Let the husband render to his wife the affection due her, and likewise also the wife to her husband. The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. And likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does." 1 Corinthians 7:3-4

I know a lot of us are into so much throughout the day that when we come home we're done, but we still have to honor God's Word. One thing that will help my brothers is that you start romancing your wives as soon as you both wake up. As women we really like flowers. We just bloom when our husbands water us with kind and pleasing words of appreciation, affection and encouragement. Wives our men are blessed when we do the same and if you aren't a real good communicator just yet..men are visual, enough said. God wants us to really understand how important this area is and to yield ourselves one to another. A local Pastor had a Marriage Conference he had the 2x2x2 plan. Intimacy 2 times a week, Vacations 2x a year, and extended weekends just for the husband and wife 2x a month. I like that plan!

How can we accomplish this in a world where we are constantly being bombarded with me, myself and I? By having a sacrificial servant spirit that wants to serve the other person in every way possible instead of just wanting only to be served. One flesh..that's who we are, and that's an area that we all can serve our mates better in....

Show Your Honey Some Love

Keeping Your Foundation Strong

All year long my Pastor has been teaching us the importance of having good strong foundations. I was meditating this week on things we've learned and I started thinking about the importance of a good foundation. What does a good foundation provide? A good foundation provides stability to our house. In the Bible Jesus says a wise man that obeys him is likened to a man that builds his house on a Rock.
Matthew 7:24-27
24“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”

We know that Rock is Jesus. So as married couples Jesus of course is the best foundation to build upon, simply because He provides us with stability and security through our relationship with Him and our obedience to His Word. If we disobey him by doing our own thing, well then we chip away at the very Rock that helps keep us strong.

One area that can begin to chip away at our marriage foundation if we let them, is out of control feelings. Remember that song...Feelings oh oh oh feelings! Feelings are so wonderful! Right?! Well...they are but in marriage and even in life they can be your best friends or your worst enemies if they are not accompanied by, some gentleness and self control. Galatians 5:23
..gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
Example..it's Christmas time right? If you and your husband plan to buy gifts you both have sat down and come up with a budget right?! I mean a good budget so when January comes your lights and gas won't be cut off because you've lost your minds shopping right?! Yes a budget, so you all will still be able to eat what you want to in 2010 instead of having to eat what you have to!LOL!!! Sorry I have loved ones that are on this vicious cycle and I don't want you to get on it, and if you are on it go look yourself in the mirror and say these words to yourself, "Christmas is about Jesus, and my friends and family KNOW that I love them whether I buy them a gift or not."
Ok so husband you are out shopping and man there is this bangin Dallas Cowboys golf club that you have to have that you know will bust your budget but you get it anyway because it makes you feel good just thinking about owning it! You go home and the wife starts adding up the receipts. A discussion about it starts and then for some reason before you know it, somebody has just gone from 0-10 in 5 seconds flat. Now for others that have learned to control their emotions a little better they may go from 0-3 and then eventually down to 0. I want to encourage you all through out this Christmas Season and for the coming New Year, ask God to help you communicate your feelings of disappointment, frustration, anger, etc..in a more godly way. Decide in advance how you will handle, talk, and address potentially stressful situations in your marriage. I say decide because having a made up mind is way better than just letting your feelings get out of hand and start chipping away at your foundation.

Who's Are You?

I hope that you were able to look up those definitions of both the fruit of the spirit and the works of the flesh that are found in Galatians chapter 5. I'm a living witness as many of you are too that walking in the Spirit produces life while walking in the flesh produces...

Ok, did you know that when you decided to marry your mate that each of you were marrying royalty?! YES! It is true. As Christians we are a royal priesthood and yes...a peculiar people LOL!! 1Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that you should show forth the praises of him who has called you out of darkness into his marvelous light;I remember one day early on in our marriage when my husband told me that one day he'll have to stand before God and make an account of how he treated God's daughter. At first I was like WOW! I NEVER looked at it that way before then I understood him a little better. I wondered why he was always very careful with his words and actions towards me. That was part of his foundation for marriage and I appreciated that then as much as I appreciate that carefulness now.
Of course after you marinade on that for awhile you begin to see that you too will one day stand before the judgment seat of Christ and make an account of everything that you did in your body good and bad. 2 Corinthians 5:10
Ooooh God's son or God's daughter, doesn't that just make you want to have a Selah moment....

So as you go through this week remember not only who you belong to, but who your mate belongs to as well. God the Father of heaven and earth.

Who Are You Talking To?

Have you ever said that to your mate? Has your mate ever said that to you?
Man, how do we get to the point of saying stuff like that to each other? For some it's a I got you now, so I'm going to be careless,maybe it's just taking that person for granted, for others it may be that you both forgot how to be friends, and seriously for some it may be out of ignorance. Do you remember how you talked to one another when you were courting? We were so mindful of the other persons feelings and we were so considerate, neither of us would dare say anything that would hurt or belittle the other right. So what happens married couples...maybe we get slack and comfortable, overly secure and careless. Some have experienced deep disappointments and have become ummm.. for lack of a better word rude and hateful. Some are just tired and have resorted to treating each other just any old kind of way. Well I came today to encourage you all to think about how you both communicated to one another when you were courting. Think about the smiles that you gave one another just because. Sometimes we have to go back to square one because we have deviated from the blue print so much. The Bible talks about the fruits of the Spirit you can recall them all right..ok me neither, so I'm going to put them up here,

Galatians 5:22,23^-But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Now let's look at the opposite attributes of the flesh. Remember these...no, ok here ya go.

Galatians :19-21 -Now the works of the flesh are manifest, and they are these: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, quarreling, rivalry, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envying, murders, drunkenness, revelings, and such like. About these things I tell you again, as I have also told you in times past, that those who do such things shall not inherit the Kingdom of God.

And that's where it gets not only ugly but dangerous because now we are in danger of missing Heaven. It's tight but it's right! I'm not able to go through each of the fruits right now as well as the works of the flesh and give you the Hebrew and or Greek definition but I encourage you to go through these lists and wherever the WORD hits you repent, meaning stop and turn and go in another direction. God is really concerned about marriages, all marriages and it's time to stop blaming the devil and acting like we live on Old Mcdevils Farm..here a devil , there a devil everywhere a devil, devil. Yes we have a formidable, yet defeated adversary who as long as we continue to operate in the fruit of the Spirit will stay defeated. It's when we crossover the Cross and we get into the flesh that we swing that door wide open, but we can't blame the devil for our actions no, no, we have power over our own choices especially as Christians. It's when we chose to flesh out that the devil comes and sets up strongholds in our marriages. Remember we are spirit beings having a human experience we CAN walk in the Spirit, just not on Sundays and Wednesdays but everyday. We can use our tongues to bless our mates and speak respectfully to one another and speak sweet things to each other. Please don't let the struggles or disappointments with your spouse keep you both from being awesome examples of God in your families and communities. God wants us to experience abundant life in every area and this area is a crucial one! John 10:10

Blessings of strength, joy, power, forgiveness, and perseverance on all the marriages represented in Jesus name. Your marriage WILL make it and your marriage WILL be all that God intended for it to be!!!

Hope for The Hopeless

We live in a day where marriages are hurting, couples are feeling hopeless, and children are wondering where is GOD in my family. To say that marriages are under attack is an understatement they are being assaulted with all the force that hell can muster. It seems that there has never been a time where the institution of marriage was so threatened and the word covenant taken so lightly. So in the midst of all this I hear the LORD saying "Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is. Jeremiah 17:7
In God is ALL of our hope because He IS our HOPE!!!

If this is for you, NOW is the time to take your spouse by the hand and proclaim, WE ARE GOING TO MAKE IT IN JESUS NAME!!! Do you know how important your covenant is to GOD! Do you know that He didn't put you together, notice I said HE PUT YOU TOGETHER not just because you wanted companionship and sex and she wanted security and children. NO! God put you together so you could love and enjoy love throughout the rest of your days here on earth. He put you two together so you could enjoy Him and all His goodness TOGETHER. He joined you so you could reflect the deepness and richness of His covenant with us, His bride TOGETHER.

You maybe in a HARD PLACE.. and you are NOT ALONE! There isn't a married couple alive right now that hasn't gone through a hard storm, or isn't currently in a storm, just came out of one, or is going into a storm. Jesus calmed the storm, Jesus walked on the waters and the same God that calms the storms lives in us. Please don't give in, please don't walk away, please don't runaway. STAND and DREAM again! STAND and FIGHT! STAND and SEE the SALVATION of God! JESUS IS OUR HOPE! Make up your mind right now that you are NOT going to quit! You go to God and you pull on Him through His WORD, through prayer, through fasting, through worship and you ask your Heavenly Father,WHAT DO WE DO? SHOW US!! He promises to give us wisdom, but we've got to seek it out. We've got to be patient with one another and we've got to HOPE in GOD.

Romans 5:5
and hope maketh not ashamed, because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost who is given unto us.

Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope through the power of the Holy Ghost.

To them God would make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

Love Songs, Fireproofing and Thanksgiving!

My Pastor taught that values drive a culture and that culture shows up in the music. I believe that. So maybe that would explain why there isn't a lot of love songs in wide circulation. Where are the songs celebrating Marriage? I know we are Christians but come on lets be REAL. Although I do not listen to secular music daily I do have my favorite "For Married People Only Music." I don't see anything wrong with listening to a little Sade as you dance with your husband or wife. But as my collection gets older I wonder where are the love songs that you can actually listen to without profanity, and without too much information, being sung? I want to encourage all you Christian artists and writers out there, ask God for some love songs. Songs like let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth for his love is better than wine. Isn't that beautiful that came straight out of the BIBLE!!! Song of Solomon 1:2.
Now that's some married worship music for sure! There are some occassions that songs like I'm Climbing Up the Rough Side of the Mountain are not fit for!LOL!

What are some things we can and we have to make sure that we do all we can to keep our union Fire Proof and fun. First by understanding that our marriages are destined by God to do several things, mirror the relationship we have with God and produce Godly offspring. Well we know about natural children but what about spiritual children? What about all those couples and even single people that have been positively affected by your marriage and mine? What about those couples who are going through and are barely hanging on that are looking up to us to help them get through? What about the future marriages of our children and so on?
I love my Pastors! They are REAL! They talk to us and let us know about their failures and successes in marriage. They do all they can to make sure married people grow in their marriages and stay strong. We have monthly meetings, retreats, classes etc...They know that if marriages don't make it everybody is affected adversely, and they believe in "taking and keeping dominion" in every area of life, and their attitude and examples are infectious. Does it get hard sometimes sure! Does it take God to help you stay the course in this covenant breaking society yes, but remember a threefold cord is not easily broken. God IS for marriage no doubt about it.The fire is always gonna be making a cameo appearance but the water of the Word and God's Spirit will help always help us move forward in victory. Some good Marriage Covenant Keeper things to be mindful of is making it our business to respond and react like Christ to one another,take time to pray, read, and fast with one another, date, buy gifts, and encourage one another daily. Doing these things will help us to be able to stay on the good side of statistics...the winning side.

As we are only two days away from Thanksgiving let your spouse know just how thankful you are for him or her. Write a sweet little note explaining why you are thankful! Buy some flowers or a golf club for your mate, a Thanksgiving Gift! Don't just say you love...show you love.

The Desert or the Promised Land Pt 3

Ok! So how have you been doing this week? Have you been YIELDING to your husband. Have you decided that you are going to be even more supportive and kind? Have you made up in your mind that regardless of how he acts, or the decisions he makes I'm going to yield to the Word of God in my behavior and attitude. Now let's make something clear. That doesn't mean you just smile politely without making your position known. It doesn't mean that you act like that princess in Coming to America either. Remember her? The prince upon meeting his future wife for the first time wanted to get acquainted with her. He asks her what do you like and she says "whatever you like" and that was her response to the next several questions. In some cultures that works really well for some couples, and I'm not knocking that. I Corinthians 11:3
But I would have you know that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is the man, and the head of Christ is God. It's tight but it's right! COME BACK!!!! (-:
Since I'am an American and this is the culture that I've been raised up in, it is the culture that I will address. Ok so we talked last about yielding. Did you or do you understand how to yield or surrender to your husband. There are several ways, but let me take one from one of my favorite movies Fire Proof. In the movie the husband has decided to put away money for a boat and his wife isn't happy about it. They kind of get into it behind it as well. Now why did I choose to start off with an example of money? Well the statistics show that infidelity, stress, incompatibility, are NOT the number one cause of divorce,FINANCES are! So back to Fire Proof, Caleb the husband decides that he is going to keep his 24,000 for his boat while, his wife allows the enemy to use that as yet another nail to drive into the coffin of their failing marriage. Now if you saw the movie Caleb ends up yielding to God's leading by blessing his wife's mother with a new hospital bed. He's accepted Christ and now we can tell by his fruit of selflessness that he is really changed. Now everybody's situation is different. Some husbands are the only bread winner, some wives are the only bread winner, and in America there is a a high percentage of two income families. So with all that being said how do we yield and yet express our opinions to our husbands when we disagree with their financial decisions? Without getting real deep and spiritual the first step is "dying to self". Say what, say what?

Yes! We have to get to a point where we are more focused on "doing right" than being focused on "who's right." Marriage like Christianity is not Burger King!LOL! For either to be successful we cannot "have it our way".(-: Now I'm keepin this light so I'm not talking about financial irresponsibility on the part of a spouse like him taking the rent money and going to the casino or spending the grocery, or bill money on a new suit. Ummm nooooooo. I'm simply talking about him making a decision from his God given positional authority that you disagree with and you loosing your mind behind it!LOL! Now what do you do when that happens? Attack him and his character, attack his parents? If that is you- STOP! That's NOT the way to handle it. We don't attack the person we attack the ISSUE. After you get a grip on you..pray, put some worship music on, whatever you need to regroup you go to him and let him know how you feel about his decision, then you go to the Father and you pray. Pray for wisdom and understanding on your part. Meaning..this may be a good move but he has the revelation on it and you don't. Or maybe he is off and you are right. No matter what you SURRENDER TO GOD"S WAY of handling it. HOW? By letting your husband KNOW how you feel in a respectful and non threatening way then by LETTING IT GO! God will communicate either your error or his and then you go from there. Nagging and degrading him IS NOT God's way and neither should it be ours. We shouldn't be with holding sex or throwing tantrums either. I know it's hard sisters but if we are going to be successful in our marriages in these days of turmoil and covenant breaking sprees we have got to get a handle on ourselves and represent and respect our husbands no matter what. God is watching and so are our children...I'll touch on that next time.

Ok so we're learning how to yield right? We're learning how to yield our vessels first unto the LORD and only then will we able to be the supportive and respectful helpmates to our husbands .There are many, many, benefits to be derived from that alone but now let's talk about leaving a legacy to our children. What does legacy mean to you?
Legacy- a gift of property, esp. personal property, as money, by will; anything handed down from the past.
So as we are walking through life with our husband we want to make it our business to leave them a legacy of Godliness in Marriage. Remember the verses to that children's song? Oh be careful little eyes what you see, oh be careful little eyes what you see, for the Father up above He is looking down in love oh be careful little eyes what you see. It then goes on to the next verse, Oh be careful little ears what you hear...You get the point right? What our children expose their eyes and ears too will affect them and the Father is watching. So what about the stuff that they don't intentionally try to see or hear?
What about the things that they have to see and hear in our homes? There is no way to block out the " For Real Home Channel" where Mommy and Daddy are the STARS!

Now we all know that we all go through different things in marriage. Some good, some great, some bad, some really bad. The point I want to make is that God is speaking to you RIGHT NOW! He's saying I know that it's been hard for you to reel yourself in and the situation is hard, but NOW is the time for you to take my WORD and WALK IT OUT! These are times of stress and pressure like never before, and should the LORD tarry our children are going to be growing up in times a lot more stressful and challenging than the present, so we have to equip them NOW! What are you saying Marva? I'm saying we as mothers have to make very intentional, and conscious efforts to show our children what being a Christian is about and how Godly women behave when the pressure is on. Now I can hear you thinking what? Girl, I have Bible study with my kids, we have a time of praise and worship everyday, we memorize Scripture, we feed the poor together and so on. That's AWESOME!!! So when there is conflict in your home what do they see then? It's easy to be cheesy when all is well...but it's when the pressure hits, that's when the REAL you and me comes out and we have a captive audience too...our kids. I heard somebody say once I can praise God better when I've got money in my pocket, or when you see somebody preach or do something that is when they are at their best. I can't say I agree with those statements. One thing I do agree with is when you and I CHOOSE to keep a cool head and honor God and our husbands in the heat of the moment, our kids will have a good foundation from which to draw from in the future when they find themselves in the middle of "heated fellowhip". Notice I said CHOOSE. We have a choice, the devil can't make us act crazy. Now we may act crazy for many reasons because we have a learned behavior pattern that we're pulling from or we're just really selfish, we've been abused, or we have poor coping skills etc...No matter what God's has given us the victory from the damaging effects of all of it.

Ok so back to our little offspring. Garbage in ,Garbage out. What kind of things are we feeding our children where marriage is concerned. Do we want to show them the Stepford Wives.. no! We are going to strain every muscle in us to show them what a Godly woman "in conflict" looks like. That's what we want to leave our kids, especially our daughters. We want to show them NOW how to handle stressful situations, storms, trials and tribulations that come up in marriage. We want to show them how to yield to God so they can yield to their husbands and leave a legacy of success to their kids and so on and so on. We affect everyone around us, especially those close to us. Ask God right now to show you how to better handle the pressure that comes up between you and your husband from time to time. Look at and study how Jesus handled stressful situations. He never retaliated, never lifted up His voice but entrusted Himself to His Father. That's the legacy we want to leave behind to our children..Next stop trusting God in your desert as you begin your journey into the promised land.

I can hear you now, I don't care how good it gets! I'm not going to call my husband master! It's ok...I'm with you because I'm not quite there myself BUT although I'm not feelin the calling him master part. My attitude IS. We've all heard it said that your Attitude Determines Your Altitude. That is the truth! It will also determine your DECREASE in altitude. So let's look at this verse again.

I Peter 3:1-6
1 In the same way, you wives should yield to your husbands. Then, if some husbands do not obey God's teaching, they will be persuaded to believe without anyone's saying a word to them. They will be persuaded by the way their wives live.2 Your husbands will see the pure lives you live with your respect for God.3 It is not fancy hair, gold jewelry, or fine clothes that should make you beautiful.4 No, your beauty should come from within you—the beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit that will never be destroyed and is very precious to God.5 In this same way the holy women who lived long ago and followed God made themselves beautiful, yielding to their own husbands.6 Sarah obeyed Abraham, her husband, and called him her master. And you women are true children of Sarah if you always do what is right and are not afraid.

Ok let's go line by line together...it's ok you can stop gnashing your teeth now!LOL!! Yield to your husbands. Not your girlfriends husbands or God forbid somebody else's husband, but YOUR husband. What does yield mean. Well I looked it up and it has a lot of definitions but these will suffice. Check this out! READY! OK (-:
1.To give up or surrender (oneself)
2.To give up or over; relinquish or resign
3.To give as due or required
WHEW! This is a Selah moment! Pause and calmly think about that! So we can see that God wants us to give up or surrender, relinquish or resign, give as due or required.
COME BACK!!!!! You can do it!!

Unfortunately we have been bombarded by a culture that has women chanting "Anything you can do I can do better, I can do anything better than you!!! What's the next line..the men sing no you can't and she sings YES I CAN and back and forth they go. Back and forth in front of their children, neighbors, family, coworkers, friends, and on and on. These things ought not be so. Why? Because that type of behavior doesn't bring glory to God and because it's OUT OF ORDER! Now I know some of you are very strong willed and independent. Maybe you were hurt and vowed to NEVER give that kind of surrender to any man ever again in life. Maybe you grew up without a dad like me, and all you've been exposed to is strong women handling their business. Maybe you've bought into the lie that women are far more superior than man. I hear you BUT that's not what God's Word says. We are God's daughters right? We are vessels for His glory to manifest in and through right? Then let me encourage you in this. We have to move past our corrupted and false views of womanhood and embrace the truth as women of God, striving to be all that God wants us to be. We are to be loving, yielding, supportive, gentle, kind, women of God. With the divorce statistics at ridiculous and extremely high rates we have to make sure that we as wives are doing everything to keep our marriages strong, healthy, and glory filled. Yes, I hear you ..men have to do their part too! Agreed! But how about, when we stand before God one day He's going to judge us on how we treated us our husbands, His son and vice versa. I can't control my husbands attitude but I can control mine. I want to be all that God wants me to be as a wife to His son don't you? I know you do, and yielding to our husbands more and more will bless our families, our sphere's of influence, and bring God glory.

Marriage - The Desert or the Promised Land?

So I've been meditating on Sarah. She was quite a woman and she married a man that God spoke to, God walked among, and a man that God made a covenant with that would eventually bless her and the world. She had to be a pretty tough sister to be hooked up to a brother like that. Yes, they had their ups and downs, ins and outs, but being married to Abraham got so good to Sarah that she called him lord( master).

If you are like me you were raised that you were woman and the world should hear you ROAR!!!! You didn't need a man to do anything for you and you definitely didn't need a man to make you feel important. You KNEW you had it going on and that's all the mattered. Well....as a single woman that mentality will keep you from a lot of foolishness but as a married woman.... Now I'm not saying that you can't be an independent gotta it going on type of woman. I'm just saying that you don't need to announce it or ROARRRRR it, every time you feel the need to take control. Now I'm preaching to me too because this is the desert that I'm leaving right now as I begin my walk into the promised land! God has shown me that He has given men positional authority, whether they(men) like it, or we like it, whether they walk in it or we walk in it with them as submissive helpmates...it is what it is!! Can I be REAL! The world has and is attempting to pervert the order that God has ordained for the family! Too many of God's daughters have fallen or is currently falling for that lie and it's time to walk in the truth.

God knows that we are intelligent, beautiful, giving, compassionate, nurturing beings He made us that way, BUT He still made man FIRST, and even though Adam messed up by following Eve's act of disobedience, God did not take that positional authority away from Adam. We all know that Adam could've said bye Boo, I'll see ya around. No instead Adam got in on it, and landed on the other side of the Garden..man that's messed up to this day!LOL!! What am I saying sisters and brothers. God has given man the responsibility of being in charge regardless and He's given us as women the responsibility to help them. No matter what God expects us to respect that authority at ALL TIMES, I'll have more on Thursday. For now pray and ask the LORD if you are honoring your husband's God given positional authority the way that God wants you to..in a way that brings glory to God and blessing to you!

Before You Say I Do

So he finally popped the question after months and months of courting. Your heart is racing, your ring finger has a beautiful diamond on it and you've posted it on Face Book, now what? You start planning the wedding! He doesn't care about all that you say..so you'll just handle it yourself right?! Ok, so now you are off to theKnot.com where you can set up your own wedding page and everything you need is at your fingertips! What are you going to do first? You are going to find a dress that will make him melt!! Next the cake, flowers, bridesmaid dresses, and location. Around and around we spin around on that wonderful ride of "I'm Getting Married" YAY ME!

This is YOUR special day you are planning for! You've only played this scene in your head like a million times since you were a little girl right? I imagined myself walking down that aisle looking fabulous, friends and family looking on as I walk towards the man of my dreams. So...did you ever imagine yourself having problems? Did you ever imagine how you would handle conflict? What would you do if he lost his job. What would you do if he got sick? Who would lead devotions in the home? Would you cook every night? Well if you are like me, you aren't even thinking about that!LOL! Why think about conflict anyway? We had a drama free 8 month courtship. We fasted, we prayed, we read the Bible, we worshiped together and we NEVER touched!!!
He told me I will never defile you, or cause you to sin against the Father. This was a match made in Heaven for real!!! We talked about what we wanted in marriage, what we wanted to accomplish while married, and how wonderful our marriage was going to be! We didn't need marriage counseling we had the Holy Ghost!!! He will guide us into all truth right? Yep and and um the truth will make and keep you free too!LOL Well when conflict came I was of the impression that he knew my way of communicating. Quick and loud. His way to solve conflict quietly and with lengthy discussions. Uhhh ohhh!!! You know where I'm going with this right?!

Pre-marriage counseling would have spared us some "rude awakenings" that we've had throughout the years for sure. In counseling they make you come out of your "love trance" and consider some things, that for the most part I can say never even crossed my mind! Why do I care how he handles conflict? We'll never have conflict! This is no ordinary love... Yes Sade was on my honeymoon. (-: Why does it matter if I think a man should always take out the trash. Or this was my favorite one..a budget are you kidding me. We'll live off of our love and the joy released will pay our bills!LOL!!! I know right? I have to laugh at that one myself. The truth of the matter is before you say "I do" let me encourage you that no matter how saved you is, or you ain't pre-marriage counseling will benefit you greatly. Now you can be grown and graduate from the school of hard knocks if you want to, you'll make it, we did. But WHY go that route? There is so much information in those sessions that can actually increase your ability to live happily ever after, by equipping you with sound Biblical wisdom and common sense understanding. So before you "jump the broom" sign up for some pre-marriage classes, you will be glad you did!(-:

Marriage God's Way

Marriage? What is the first image that comes to mind? You and your sweetie running through a grassy meadow hand in hand smiling as you both maneuver around the "mines of life together"? What about the image of you both riding on a roller coaster smiling sweetly at one another as you are about to drop down about 300ft at 90 miles an hour, not really knowing if the love that fuels this roller coaster called Marriage can withstand the dips, drops, and plunges of life? Maybe your mind brings up images of the old ball and chain perhaps? Well you know what, we all go through all of these images throughout our marriages. One day we're like, I love you so much Snoogy Woogy and then we have those days that make you want to pray and ask God, Is this the ONE or should I look for another?!

My husband and I have been married for 11 years and we've had some really great times and some really hard and challenging times. Being a Christian doesn't exempt us from the rain and storms, that eventually find their way over our perfect little cottage with the white picket fence. Marriage is and can be wonderful if we view it and respect it the way God has intended. God ordained and established the marriage covenant and He meant it to be enjoyable, a witness, and a work that He wants to be apart of. Remember these words in Ecclesiastes 4:12- Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken. God IS that third cord that binds us and keeps us together, and He wants to have "total access." He does that through His Spirit, His Word, and by placing those around us who will give us Godly counsel and encourage us on our way. As we go through marriage God is guiding, correcting, and instructing us. We cannot rely upon our own wisdom to get us through this most precious and sacred covenant we NEED God's wisdom and help.

Did you know that marriage is not a business transaction, where one partner vows to give 50% if the other does too? Did you know that marriage is not conditional,if you do this I'll do that and if you don't, I won't? These examples are worldly in nature and self centered. Marriage God's way says you two are One flesh and it will take you both moving forward, to get through life successfully with all it's joys and pains, ups and downs, ins and outs. Sometimes in marriage one partner wants to move quicker than the other. Sometimes in marriage one partner puts the other partner out a limb behind a bad decision made. We affect each other with every move we make positively or negatively but one thing that we can say works through it all is loving one another and forgiving one another the way God has forgiven and loves us through Jesus Christ. Colossians 3:13- Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. My husband and I have not mastered this, we have days we are right on the money and we have days that we miss by a long shot. The key is to keep moving forward with made up minds that we are going to have and hold onto each other tightly, in sickness or health, for better or for worse, til death to us apart.
